Elizabeth (Liz) McMillan

Notary Public
At a young age, Liz knew she wanted to practice law. She was passionate about justice and the law and even started reading Canada’s Criminal Code at a young age. She was convinced that she was going to be a judge. So, after graduating from Central Algoma Secondary School in 2006 on the Honour Roll, she immediately dove into her educational career attending Laurentian University (Algoma University campus). She graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Law & Justice and Sociology.
From there, she moved across the province to attend law school at the University of Ottawa where she received her Juris Doctor (J.D.). While there, she participated in two legal clinics. At the University of Ottawa Community Legal Clinic, she was part of the Landlord and Tenant division where she worked with clients, drafted documents, and attended Landlord and Tenant duty counsel under the supervision of a staff lawyer. During this time she became extensively familiar with the Residential Tenancies Act. As a student at the uOttawa-Ecojustice Environmental Law Clinic, she researched various environmental law topics for leading lawyers in the field on environmental issues.
After graduation from the University of Ottawa, she came full circle and returned home to Sault Ste. Marie where she had the opportunity to article with a local sole practitioner. During her time there, she gained experience in a wide array of practice areas including: Wills and Estate Law, Family Law, and Consent and Capacity Board matters.
Liz is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Algoma District Law Association.
In January of 2017, Liz was called to the Bar. After much deliberation, she decided to open her own law office to provide quality and affordable legal representation.
